Where is Security?

Contemplating love and relationship the other night in a dyad exercise I saw a tendency to look for security and connection in the "wrong" place.  The mind wants to plug into a source of love, safety, security, comfort, well-being, and so on.  Thought looks to outside sources, to another;  it creates an umbilical cord with another person or with objects, ideas, etc.  These outside sources are never dependable and the result is frustration, disappointment, hopelessness, anger, and alienation.  It's not that what the mind is seeking doesn't exist or isn't a real need;  it's just that it's looking for security where it can't be found!  When this was clearly seen the seeking outside lost its power and the attention came back to rest in the Beingness.  Then there was a sense of Presence, fullness, security, and an unbroken unitary ground of existence which is missed when sought in objects.  It seems strange in a way that there's a forgetting of this over and over again, a going out and a returning home, a kind of going unconcious then waking up again to the way it more truly is.
