A Different Way of Living

|
This residential weekend dialogue retreat will take place July 23-25, 2010at the KECC’s Swanwick Centre, located on a beautiful 32 acre ocean-front property in Metchosin, near Victoria, B.C. on Vancouver Island (see www. krishnamurti-canada.ca). The retreat includes videotaped sessions of J. Krishnamurti in dialogue with Professor Allan Anderson, some of them never before shown in public.
J. Krishnamurti (www.jkrishnamurti.org) spoke throughout his life in many parts of the world to large audiences as well as with numerous individuals, including writers, scientists, philosophers and educators. Asked to describe what lay at the heart of his teaching, he said: "Truth is a pathless land. Man cannot come to it through any organization, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, nor through any philosophic knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the mirror of relationship, through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection.”
At a time of unprecedented outer change in the political, economic and social atmospheres, is there a fundamental inner change that is demanded of each one of us? In these dialogues with Professor Allan W. Anderson, Emeritus Professor of Religious Studies at San Diego State University, J. Krishnamurti indicates that basing our hopes on organized religion, science, political ideology or the market economy not only fails to address basic human problems but actually creates them. The way out of our difficulties, Krishnamurti states, can only start in the mind of each one of us, in awareness of the way we actually perceive life, ourselves and others. This retreat covers such themes as:
Fear and Desire Responsibility & Relationships
Activities: Dialogues and video showings will be accompanied by movement sessions and other supporting activities. The dialogues present a special opportunity to, together, deeply probe into the nature of mind and thought and explore the possibility and implications of “a different way of living”.
A Supportive Environment: The Centre’s beautiful natural setting is ideally suited for deeper enquiry and the emergence of stillness. To optimize this process and minimize distractions, silence is recommended during part of the retreat.
The Facilitators: This retreat is hosted by Ralph Tiller and David Bruneau. Ralph was principal at the KECC’s Wolf Lake School and coordinator of the KECC outreach program. He directs the East-West Clinic, a holistic health practice in Victoria, B.C., and is a registered acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine practitioner. David was a teacher at the Wolf Lake School and teaches rebalancing and meditation in Victoria. Both Ralph and David have been involved with the Centre for many years.
